How far can you go down the abandoned mine shaft before those bloodthirsty creatures catch up with you and tear you apart limb from limb? This is one very dark Unity horror game where you move along the tunnels of an abandoned mine and fight hordes of mutated creatures. There is no way out. It is only a matter of time before they catch you. Leave your comment below and tell us how far did you make it?
Secrets of an abandoned mines
If you plan on filming a good horror movie or make a good horror game, then mines are a good location choice. The earth's womb hides thousands of meters of narrow dark tunnels. Pitch dark, lack of oxygen, poisones gases, the possibility to be buried alive, claustrophobia - all make them scary as hell. If you ever enter some abandoned mine, rest assured that while you innocently walk down its tunnels, only centimeters below your feet, bones of some unfortunate soul may rest. That is why those places are often inhabited by apparitions, ghosts from the past. People often, very irresponsibly use those locations to store nuclear waste. And that makes it possible that these abandoned places could turn into a breeding ground for some new, genetically modified species, which survives by feeding on lost and curious visitors.
Do you remember the movie 'The Hills Have Eyes' from 2006? That is what I'm talking about. As a result of nuclear testing in a desert of New Mexico, complete ground and water contamination happened in that area. However, the miners who depend on their jobs for survival, refused to leave. 50 years later, one ordinary American family while traveling the country, comes across that contaminated area and then all hell brakes loose. "The lucky ones die fast". Down below is trailer on both sequels:
'The Mine' online game - what is it about?
This is a Unity game made by 4 students from England as their term paper/project. It is a first person shooter. Map consists of several underground rooms, all either in complete dark or just barely lit. Rooms are connected by vertical hallways and you use elevator to move from one to the next. You enter the elevator by pressing the push button on the wall. Inside the elevator there is a lever which must be pushed downwards to start the elevator. There will be occasional weapon and ammo to be found on the ground. First you get simple bat and later a gun. Weapons are for defense against bloodthirsty creatures coming at you from the dark. They have only one thought in their minds... kill, kill, kill. Eventually they will succeed, because the game is not made to have any possibility of exit. The goal is to get as far form the mines a s possible before they get you. Hint: At the beginning of the game there is writing in blood on the table: "They freeze in the light!". If these creatures really live only underground, it is quite possible that bright light might hurt them or at leat slow them down. You have flash light, so try and see if it could be useful to you.

Downloadable version for PC
Here you can download an offline version of the game if you prefer playing it on PC. the mine - pc version - download . There is a possibility that Chrome or whatever browser you use, will report this as a malicious file because it contains an .exe file.
Bad thing is the fact that mouse pointer doesn't align with red cross in the game, which makes 'aiming' a bit difficult and can cause 'accidental clicks'. However if you start the game correctly and press enter, mouse pointer will be hidden. Also the game assumes that every player has mouse wheel for changing weapons, which is obviously not the case. It is also reported that on Mac computers, weapon changing is not possible. The game would be much better if there were levels, and a boss monster at the end of each of them. This way the game becomes repetitive very soon.

cordelia : Haha 5 meters oh well
cordelia : hi @mishimazeus :)
Scientist : Still has a few bugs but other than that pretty good.
serialzero : The zombie-ish monster is kind of lame, but I love the other creature. Looks like something straight out of Silent Hill. X3
serialzero : Great sound effects. The game lags a bit, and the animation seems a little broken, but the monsters are still pretty cool nonetheless. I love the dual use of the flare gun as both a weapon and an alternate light source. This game has a lot of potential. X3
rainbowsgoboom : ummm I couldn't move?
Lord Legender : This game has pretty bad graphics, and the zombies are really slow. Also a few tips, since the zombies are really slow, don't use your flash light until at least the 4th floor.
mishimazeus : hi guysss
cute_but_scary : whenever i run this game unity player crashes (ughhhh)
dark : the monster seems to freeze up when you point the torch beam into his face ... here ... http://youtu.be/sEUgUjD7yRA
Creepyalex : Not bad! Altough, the monsters don't really freeze when you throw the red light at them, they seem to just slow down, but it still gives enough time to actually save yourself. I only managed 20 meters until they decided to tore my flesh apart :D I will definitely play more, because this game is cool!
